An ergonomic baby carrier for Australian parents

The Honey & Sage Ergonomic Baby Carrier is a front-carrying baby carrier made for everyday, hands-free closeness. It supports babies from 3.5kg to 20kg, so the same carrier works from the newborn weeks through to the toddler years.

A newborn baby carrier that grows with your child

From 3.5kg, the carrier adjusts to sit your newborn high and snug on your chest, close enough to kiss, with their chin off their chest and their face always in view. As your baby grows, you loosen and adjust the straps and waistband rather than buying a new carrier.

Ergonomic support for you and your baby

A supportive waistband carries much of your baby's weight on your hips, and the shoulder straps spread the rest across your back, so you can carry for longer without the strain of carrying your baby in your arms. For your baby, the wide seat supports the M-position, with knees higher than bottom and a gently curved back.

An adjustable baby carrier for different parents and caregivers

The buckle-and-strap design adjusts at the shoulders and waist, so it can be shared between parents, grandparents and other carers. Most people find it quick to put on solo after a few practice runs.

Front carrying, facing in or out

Newborns and young babies should face in towards you. Once your baby has strong head and neck control, you can switch to facing out for short periods, following the included instructions.

Breathable cotton for Australian weather

Made from 100% cotton, the carrier is lighter and more breathable than heavier synthetic designs, which helps on warm Australian days. In hot weather, dress your baby in a single light layer and take regular breaks.

How it compares to other ergonomic baby carriers

Australia has some well-known specialist carrier brands, and many of them offer extras like multiple back and hip carry positions, mesh panels or a wide range of sizes and accessories. Ours is deliberately simpler: one adjustable, breathable cotton front carrier that covers 3.5kg to 20kg, for parents who want a comfortable everyday carrier without a long list of settings to learn. If you need back carrying or a specialist fit, a dedicated babywearing store or consultant can help.

TICKS babywearing safety

Always use the carrier according to the included instructions, and check TICKS every time you carry:

  • Tight: the carrier is snug and secure, keeping your baby close against you.
  • In view at all times: you can see your baby's face just by looking down, with their airway clear and unobstructed.
  • Close enough to kiss: your baby is carried high enough that you can kiss the top of their head.
  • Keep chin off chest: no slumping in the carrier, with at least a finger's width under your baby's chin.
  • Supported spine: your baby's back is naturally curved and supported firmly against you.

TICKS safety guidelines as shared by the Australian Babywearing Association, where you can find more babywearing education and resources.

Why parents choose this carrier

Ergonomic Support

The wide seat supports your baby in the M-position, with knees higher than bottom and a gently curved back, while the waistband carries much of the weight on your hips.

Grows With Your Child

From newborn cuddles to busy toddler outings, the adjustable straps and waistband grow with your baby from 3.5kg up to 20kg.

Breathable and Washable

Made from 100% cotton that's soft on sensitive skin, easy to spot clean and machine washable for the everyday messes.

Front carrying, made simple

No long wraps to tie or fabric to fold. The buckle-and-strap design is simple to put on solo once you've practised a few times.

How to get a secure fit:

🔸 Secure the waist: fasten the waistband high on your waist so it carries baby's weight on your hips.
🔸 Position your baby: bring baby up onto your chest so their hips settle into the M-position, knees higher than bottom.
🔸 Click and adjust: fasten the buckles and tighten the side straps until baby is snug, in view and close enough to kiss.

FAQs

Baby should be positioned securely and high on your body, with their face visible, their chin off their chest and their nose and mouth clear at all times. Always follow the included carrier instructions and check all fastenings before each use.

Yes. It's suitable from 3.5kg when adjusted according to the included instructions. For a newborn, tighten the straps so your baby sits high on your chest, close enough to kiss, facing in, with their chin off their chest and their face always in view. If your baby was born early or has a medical condition, check with your GP or child health nurse first.

The carrier is suitable from 3.5kg to 20kg.

The shoulder straps and waistband both adjust, so you can loosen them as your baby gets bigger and heavier. Re-check the fit every time: your baby should still sit high and snug, with their knees higher than their bottom. The same adjustments mean parents and caregivers of different sizes can share the carrier.

Baby may become drowsy while being carried, but carriers are not a safe sleep space. If baby falls asleep, check them frequently, make sure their airway is clear, and move them to a safe sleep space as soon as possible.

Yes, it's a front-carrying baby carrier. Newborns and young babies should always face in towards you. Once your baby has strong head and neck control you can switch to facing out for short periods, following the included instructions.

That's what it's made for: walks, errands, settling and getting things done at home. The waistband carries much of your baby's weight on your hips rather than your shoulders. Take regular breaks, give your baby floor time, and stop if you or your baby feel uncomfortable or too warm.

Yes, unused items in original packaging can be returned within 30 days, subject to hygiene and sale-item exclusions. Used or worn carriers cannot be returned for change of mind.

This product comes with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. If you believe your item is faulty, contact us with your order number and photos so we can help.

A note from Kate

I chose this carrier because babywearing can make the early months feel a little more manageable. It is for those ordinary but very real moments: getting out the door, settling baby, making a cuppa, or needing both hands for five minutes.
